Five-Factor Analysis of Maximum Bully Dog Food

Five-Factor Analysis of Maximum Bully Dog Food

This is the routine analysis of dog food that puts special focus on the recipe, its ingredients, nutritional value, pricing and recalls. It helps a buyer understand the product much better than they do at first glance.

1. Recipes | ★★★

I usually review several recipes of a brand to make comparisons, but since there is only one product on this dog food line, I will solely focus on this.

  • Highly Digestible
  • High in energy
  • High in protein

This recipe is crafted by people who own bully dogs and understand their needs and what works best for them.

This recipe’s sole focus is not the protein, despite being high-protein. It also puts a focus on the skin and coat of your bully dog. It contains a zinc pack plus ingredients that are high in Omega 3 and Omega 6 fatty acids.

The recipe also contains a lot of substances that provide adequate fiber and are easy to digest.

2. Ingredients | ★★★

Here are the ingredients you can see in Maximum Bully dog food.

Main Ingredients

The first ingredient is a chicken meal. Not ideal because it contains chicken feet, intestine, and bone but not the meat that is good for consumption by human standards.

Pork meal comes second on the list. It contains concentrated protein but high amounts of ASH. It has up to 30% ash.

Third on the list is chicken fat, a good source of energy. It is obtained by the process of rendering the meat. Chicken fat contains the substance that makes your dog’s hair shiny, linoleic acid. It is an Omega-6 fatty acid.

Another ingredient is white rice. White rice refers to rice after the husk is removed. It is not as nutritious as brown rice or rice bran.

Barley is the second grain added to this recipe. It is high in carbohydrates, very starchy, and some other moderate amounts of nutrients.

Pea protein is also added. Pea protein is made by removing all starch from peas. This substance is 80% protein but cannot compete with real meat in terms of biological quality.

Pet food companies can add plant-based protein to their recipes because it increases the protein value in a less expensive way than using meat.

We also have oatmeal next. It can provide fiber and vitamin B.

This recipe contains dried egg products. Dried egg products are just eggs without shells and moisture. This does not specify what kind of eggs are used. However, eggs have a high biological value.

Author’s Note: Further down the list, the amount of ingredients decreases significantly and does not have much effect on the overall nutritional value of a recipe.

Controversial Ingredients

Beet pulp is a high-fiber product that is left after processing beats. Some denounce this ingredient as a cheap filler, but others praise it for its high-fiber quality.

In my personal opinion, I would say the use of beet pulp is acceptable.

Flaxseed is also added to the recipe, and it is my favorite grain in dog food. It contains some very essential Omega 3 fatty acids. However, flaxseed is quite low in protein which can be a cause of concern when the recipe does not have enough meat.

Fishmeal, although an acceptable source of protein, does not specify much about the product. It gives us no information about the breed of the fish or what parts have been used to make it.

Next up, we have brewer’s yeast, which is obtained from the beer-making process. It is perfect for the immune system. Even after being high in nutrients, it can be linked to allergies.

But then again, your dog can either be allergic to it or not. It is best to consult a vet and check for allergic reactions.

Chelated Minerals

Chelated Minerals are only found in high-quality dog food. These are proteins to which minerals have been attached chemically. The reason for this is to ensure that dogs can absorb these two nutrients easily.

3. Nutritional Analysis | ★★★★

This nutritional analysis is aimed at figuring out what the given nutritional values mean for a bully breed dog who requires a particular diet.

NutrientPercentage
Protein32%
Fat22%
FiberNA
MoistureNA
Carbohydrates40%

The fat-to-protein ratio is 69%. We can safely say that Maximum Bully dog food is better than the average dry dog food in its category.

However, in this recipe, a lot of the carbs come from fat instead of protein, which is not suitable for a lot of dogs. It can lead to obesity.

A lot of this recipe is just carbs which can be beneficial for any active dog, but still, it’s not ideal for a bully breed dog to rely so much on carbohydrates for energy.

Overall the nutritional values show promise. I only wish the source of the protein had more meat. Meat-based protein is biologically appropriate for dogs because it provides necessary amino acids that help in muscle growth and maintenance of muscles.

4. Price | ★★★★

It was 33 pounds, so it was about $60 for a bag. Some pet stores offer it for $45. For any dog food in this category, this is a good and fair price.

For an average low-protein dry dog food, this amount would have been high.

Seeing how some low-cost ingredients have been used and there is no real meat, I would recommend all buyers to only buy it on sale.

5. Recall History | ★★★★

So far, no recalls have been noted regarding Maximum Bully dog food.

This is not unexpected as this dry dog food refrains from using a lot of controversial and harmful ingredients that would cause concern.

This is a family business that pays special attention to how the food is made, which doesn’t leave much room for error.

Feeding Guide

Let’s talk about protein, fam. I got a bunch of people talking to me about it, asking me about diet and how much protein to give their dogs. You know, they want to maximize growth, do this and do that. Well, let me tell you right now, as far as pups are concerned, my point of view is that protein is definitely necessary.

But if you give your puppies too much protein, what you might end up doing is causing a problem called knuckling over.

Okay, and this usually happens when the pup is receiving too dense of food, too dense in calories, and too high in protein. You’ll start noticing when they step over with their foot; it starts knuckling over.

When you buy an American Bully, especially in that first year and a half, their growth plates don’t seal until they’re at least a year and a half old.

So if you add weight to them, two things are gonna happen. The first thing is, if you’re getting an XL or bigger, what’s gonna happen is their bone is probably gonna grow a lot faster than their soft tissue will. So what is soft tissue?

We’re talking about tendons, cartilage, ligaments, and the whole bang. What’s going on with that is it gets very little blood supply. Whereas the bone that’s where the blood is actually being made. So the bone is actually growing a lot faster, and it takes time for this soft tissue to catch up.

The fastest way to fix that is simply to reduce the density of the food and reduce the protein. Put them on the same diet for about another two or three months, and you should see everything clear up pretty well.
